What to Expect on a typical Sunday Morning
Time - The Sunday worship service starts at 10am with a few minutes of prelude music giving everyone a chance to settle into a seat and center their hearts and minds for worship.
Attire - The St. Paul congregation ranges from casual to dressed up on any given Sunday.
Service Style - The Sunday service follows a traditional liturgy broken into four parts: Gathering, Word, Meal, Sending.
Music - Accompanied by the organ or piano the service includes selections from the book "Evangelical Lutheran Worship."
Screen - A large projection screen above the altar guides everyone through their participation in the service including hymns and responses.
Children's Sermon - Pastor Tom invites the children to come up and sit on the steps of the altar with him for a message that fits in with the days Gospel lesson.
Children's Mid-Service Sunday School - following the Children's Sermon, all kids are invited for a short Sunday School lesson and activity. They return to the service before Holy Communion.
Sharing of the Peace - we take a few moments during the service to move around and greet one another with the Peace of Christ. We do this by saying "peace be with you" or simply "peace" to those we greet. It is a joyful time in our community.
Holy Communion - Communion is available every Sunday and is open to all baptized Christians. Wine or grape juice is available, as well as gluten free bread. Please tell the communion server your preference. Ushers will be there to help you to enter the communion line. Plastic cups are disposed of in a basket that is available after you have received communion.
Offering - The service includes a time for collecting monetary offerings. As plates are passed among the congregation, special music provided by the Choir or other musicians accompanies us. First time worshipers need to know that no one is under any obligation to give. This is a voluntary monetary offering to support the mission and work of the church – here, near, and far.
